A barn raising is an event during which a community comes together to assemble a barn for one or more of its households, particularly in 18th- and 19th-century rural North America. (Wikipedia)
The same can be done for websites.
SCALE (Southern California Linux Expo) is going to be a little earlier next year and this has moved forward the CFP (Call for Papers). We will be building the SCALE site on Drupal 7 this year. In the past, the CFP was on a separate non-Drupal framework and importing the data was the source of some headaches. I hope by bringing the CFP into Drupal from the start, we can improve on that situation.
The next Downtown LA Drupal meetup is on July 19, 2011 and will be at Droplabs, a Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. Created by LA Drupal members for the LA Drupal community, Droplabs is the host of LA Drupal's weekly Pro Drupal 7 Development book study group and special events including last month's Drupal job fair and Varnish 3 Release Party.
We will finish chapter 4 and hopefully chapter 5.
This meeting will be canceled if the 405 is not open by 8:00 AM 7/18/2011.
The next Downtown Los Angeles Drupal meetup is on June 21, 2011 and will be at Droplabs, a new Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. You are invited for part or all of the 4-hour event, including LA Drupal's first-ever job fair at 6:00pm followed by a meetup with technical presentations, site showcases, open discussions and raffle prizes at 7:30pm.
The job fair is free and there are a limited number of tables for exhibiting companies and organizations. We no longer have a 30-person limit and everyone who signs up at http://groups.drupal.org/node/153134#signup will be able to attend.
Job fair at 6:00pm

A study group for Drupal 7 Development is being formed. As a study guide, the group will be using the book Pro Drupal 7 Development by Dave Reid, Todd Tomlinson and John VanDyk, published by Apress.
This study group was announced at the last Downtown Meetup at Oversee.net and it focuses primarily on programming and module development in Drupal 7. Books will be distributed at the first meeting of the group on June 20th. There is no fee for joining this group or for the book.
